The answer of of course Stretching! Stretching to warm up muscles can take as little as 10 seconds, but stretching for improvement of flexibility starts at around 2 minutes. Best time for this stretching is when you are not sore an hour before you go to bed, because your mind starts to release endorphins that will make stretching more comfortable. Also, this would be followed by dynamic stretching (for side splits it would be side leg raises) mornings are perfect for this kind of stretching. Also an interesting way to get your splits on all three sides is to watch a lot of TV!! ..no seriously. Each TV episode is 22 minutes long with 3 2 minute commercial breaks, usually. Use each commercial break as a timer for your left right and center splits. Hope this helps.
